Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

We dug a quick pit just north of the Tamarack Resort Boundary at approximately 7400’. Performed hand hardness and an isolated column test, which failed at 12.

We observed rounding in most of the crystals, but still some obvious faceting that could explain the surprisingly quick failure.

We didn’t have time to perform other tests or produce a full pit profile, but did not ski into avalanche terrain today.
