Observations

Touchy wind slabs on NE aspects from recent new snow (12/30/22) and string SW winds. We avoided wind loaded terrain. Non wind affected terrain was developing near surface facets/surface hoar. We were able to initiate loose snow sloughs in steeper non wind loaded terrain that did not run far but could have sweep you over cliffs or twist a knee. We traveled as per moderate danger and avoided wind loaded terrain. Lots of cornice breaks from recent storms.
