Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

The PAC toured Diamond Ridge as the storm blew in on Valentine's day. Light snow in the afternoon came in with legitimate frontal winds initially from the South gusting well into the 30 mile an hour range and moving snow. Stability on the surface was poorly set up with crusts and facets. Below the surface crusts, the snowpack yielded good stability tests...our new snow is the problem and may have already failed naturally on this poor setup.
