Bottom Line

The 2 snowpits revealed a moderately strong set-up with some lingering poor structure. We did have a couple of localized whumphs while skinning or collapses likely due to the denser upper snowpack that formed from recent warmer temps and wind, or weak snow that exists still in lower angle terrain. Travel was easy on skins and skiing was good. Ski penetration was about 15cm. We are still cautious about hitting logs and rocks.

There are still a lot of deep crowns (2') that are visible from last week's natural cycle. The avalanches are starting to fade with the recent light snow and wind.
