A heads up with the new snow. On Tuesday I traveled in the Sergeants area to take a look at the existing snow prior to the next storm cycle. The dense snow that fell over the weekend has weakened significantly due to a couple of clear cold nights combined with a thin snow pack. Large surface hoar up to at least 5mm was covering many surfaces including some sun crust. The upper 6" of the snowpack has weakened considerably. It was far less supportable than on Sunday.
I would advise anyone traveling in the mountains should pay attention to the old/new snow interface. I would expect both natural and human triggered avalanches in the near future.
