The Friends of the Payette Avalanche Center, McCall Winter Sports Club, Brundage Mountain Resort, and 705 Backcountry Ski Patrol are offering a Level 1 Avalanche Course for High School students.   There is a limit of 20 students.

Registration is through the Friends of the Payette Avalanche Center.  Registration ends December 1.   Fees will $90.00 payable when books are picked up at the high school.  Books are included in course fee.

Books will be delivered to the appropriate high school on December 1 to 3, unless other arranges are made.

The class format will be assigned reading to be done before each zoom meeting.  Zoom meetings will be geared toward discussion of the material that was assigned and demonstrations rather than lectures.

Class Schedule:

December 7 – On-line 6:30 to 9:00 PM

December 9 – On-line 6:30 to 9:00 PM

December 14 – On-line 6:30 to 9:00 PM

December 16 – On-line 6:30 to 9:00 PM

December 17 – Little Ski Hill 5:00 to 8:00 PM – Dress warm to walk around in snow.  Skis Optional

December 18 – Brundage Mountain Resort – 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM – Bring field gear and field lunch

December 19 – Brundage Mountain Resort – 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM – Bring field gear and field lunch

Alpine touring or telemark skis with skins or split board with skins are required.

Avalanche Beacon, Probe and Shovel are necessary for field days (A limited number available to rent)
