FPAC Know Before You Go & Avalanche Awareness
Where: Zoom Online & Brundage Mountain Resort/Meet at west end of upper parking lot

When: Zoom 3/2/22 & 19:00 – 20:00 / Brundage 3/6/22 08:00 – 17:00

Cost: Zoom – Open to all, $5.00 suggested donation Field – Open to 12 participants, $80.00 suggested donation (Ticket includes 1 time lift pass)

Description: This is a fund raiser for the Payette Avalanche Center presented by the Friends of the PAC. Course design is an online Zoom session Know Before You Go open to all. Followed by a field day avalanche awareness course restricted to twelve participants.
Lead Instructor: John Postlewaite, Certified NSP Avalanche Instructor and AAA pro member. Topics Include
• How to read the avalanche advisory
• How to recognize avalanche terrain
• Anatomy of Avalanches
• Terrain Management
• Snowpack and Weather
• Decision making and Risk Management tools
• Companion Rescue
Required equipment for field day
• Skis with telemark, Randonnée, alpine touring bindings or a Splitboard
• Skins
• Avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe
• Helmet
• Appropriate size daypack
• Lunch and snacks for the day
• Extra gloves and insulated layers
• Enough water for the day
• Sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses)
• Waterproof jacket and pants
• Knit hat, goggles, gloves, wind block (neck gator, balaclava, or buff)
