Intro to Avalanche Awareness

January 23 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

The Friends of the Payette Avalanche Center (the “PAC”)  will offer a free Introduction to Avalanche Safety Class on January 23, starting at 9am, at the Little Ski Hill. The class will be limited to 12 students, who should expect mask use, social distancing and other pandemic safety protocols. To register, email [email protected]

Though the class is free, a suggested donation of $25 to the Friends would be much appreciated.

Instructors expect the class to last from 9am to 1pm. Skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, snowmobilers; all winter enthusiasts are encouraged to attend, but the class will be taught with just your boots on. Do bring a shovel, avalanche beacon and probe if you have them, in your backpack. Dress warmly, in layers.

Prior to the class, all students, and all readers of this story, are encouraged to visit the Know Before You Go website, https://kbyg.org/ to watch the complete kbyg videos, and to visit https://payetteavalanche.org/ to review the latest local avalanche forecast.
