Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Dug a Pit on a North aspect at 7700'.  120 cms of total snow.  70 cms of old snow and 50 cms of new snow.  Several crusts from temperature/rain events capped the old October snow.  Stability tests showed good bonding of the new low density snow to the old October snow crust.  I still choose to stay out of avalanche terrain and confine my travel to ridgelines.

Any other comments about the observation or links to outside pages that have more info on the observation:

Overall snow depths were 1-2 feet.  Southern aspects had little to no old snow and only the new low density snow.  Many stumps, rocks, and down trees made for slow and careful travel.  Access was by truck to 6700', then skinning from there.
